# Configure a WhatsApp Lite channel

> Connect a WhatsApp number to BluBash using a QR code scan. Ideal for small operations or testing, with no Meta credentials required.

WhatsApp Lite is the simpler of the two WhatsApp connection types available in BluBash. Instead of Meta Business API credentials, it connects your WhatsApp number by scanning a QR code — the same method used to link WhatsApp Web. It is a good starting point for small teams or testing environments, but keep in mind that it carries higher risk for bulk sends and may disconnect if the linked phone loses internet access.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the channel">
    * In the left sidebar, click **Channels**.
    * Click **Add Channel**.
    * Select **WhatsApp Lite**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the basic details">
    * **Channel name** — for example, "WhatsApp Lite Sales".
    * **Default team** — select the team that will receive conversations from this channel.
    * **AI agent** (optional) — choose an agent for automatic replies.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Scan the QR code">
    After saving the basic details, a QR code appears on screen.

    1. Open **WhatsApp** on your phone.
    2. Tap the three-dot menu → **Linked devices** → **Link a device**.
    3. Point your phone camera at the QR code displayed in BluBash.

    <Info>
      The QR code refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. If it expires before you scan it, wait for the next one to appear or reload the page.
    </Info>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the connection">
    After a successful scan, wait a few seconds. The channel status changes from **Configuration** to **Connected**, and the phone number and WhatsApp display name appear on the channel detail page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify the status">
    In the channels list, the connected WhatsApp Lite channel shows a green indicator and an **Active** status badge, confirming it is ready to receive messages.

    <Warning>
      If you disconnect the device from WhatsApp on your phone, the channel will revert to **Configuration** status. You will need to scan a new QR code to reconnect.
    </Warning>
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Reconnect a disconnected channel

If the channel loses its connection:

1. Click the channel in the channels list.
2. If the status shows **Configuration** or **Disconnected**, a reconnect option appears.
3. Scan the new QR code displayed on screen.

<Tip>
  Keep WhatsApp open and your phone connected to the internet to avoid frequent disconnections. Extended periods without internet access on the linked phone will cause the channel to drop.
