You can edit templates and quick replies to update their content, or delete them when they are no longer needed. The process is the same for both types, but the outcome differs depending on whether the item requires Meta approval.
Only administrators and managers can edit and delete templates and quick replies.

Edit a template or quick reply

1

Open Templates

In the left-hand menu, click “Templates”.
2

Find the item

Use the search field or scroll through the list to locate the template or quick reply.
3

Open the actions menu

Click the three-dot icon (⋮) next to the item.
4

Select 'Edit'

Click the Edit option from the dropdown menu.
5

Make your changes

You can update any of the following:
  • Name and description
  • Content (header, body, footer)
  • Buttons and media
  • Variables
  • Associated channels or teams
6

Save the changes

Click the save button to apply your updates.

What happens after editing

The effect of an edit depends on the type of message:
  • Editing a template requires new Meta approval
  • The status changes back to Pending
  • The previous version remains available to send until the new version is approved

Delete a template or quick reply

1

Open Templates

In the left-hand menu, click “Templates”.
2

Find the item

Search or scroll to locate the item you want to remove.
3

Open the actions menu

Click the three-dot icon (⋮) next to the item.
4

Select 'Delete'

Click the Delete option.
5

Confirm deletion

Confirm that you want to permanently delete the item.
Deletion is permanent and irreversible. The template or quick reply will be completely removed and cannot be recovered.

When to edit vs. when to create new

Edit the existing item when you want to:
  • Fix a typo or wording error
  • Update information such as prices or business hours
  • Add or remove variables
Create a new item when:
  • The content is completely different from the original
  • You want to keep the current version available while adding a new one
  • You need approval urgently and cannot wait for re-approval of the edited version

Important notes

  • Edits to message templates require new Meta approval and may take up to 24 hours
  • Edits to quick replies are immediate
  • Deletion is permanent — there is no undo
  • Messages already sent are not affected by edits or deletions
  • After editing a template, test it before using it in live conversations
